FORMER NAVY SEAL REBUKES OBAMA

President Barack Hussein Obama – STOP using the Navy SEALS as a campaign ploy. Because with all due respect, (what little I have for you), you do NOT speak for me.
You have a movie about SEALS within the past year trying to identify with me, with the navy SEALS, and with anything that might improve your polling numbers…and yet it is all a sham to hide a weak un-American man desperate to claim the victories of others for his own.
You Sir are trying to take the credit for what the American People have achieved in killing Bin Laden. Your use of the SEALs accomplishment as a campaign slogan is nothing less than despicable. I, as a former Navy SEAL do not accept your taking credit for Osama Bin Laden’s death. The American Military accomplished that feat.
Yet now that it is useful, you Mr. President, continue to refer to the event as if it were YOU and you alone which accomplished the worthy task of slaying one of America’s greatest enemies. You say “I directed”, “I Continued”, “My Intelligence Community”, “My national security team”, “I determined that I had enough….”, “My direction…”
Yet reliable sources continue to report that not only did you attempt to stop or delay Bin Laden’s demise, you did not even leave the golf course for the situation room until 20 minutes before SEAL Team 6 took out Osama Bin Laden. Even the clothes you wore in the situation room betray this fact. This is a Commander in Chief? A man who takes credit for actions largely taken while he was out golfing?
We men who have taken the oath, say ENOUGH. You do not speak for me, a former Navy SEAL, or any one of the league of men whom I have earned the right to be among. You are simply a man running for an office. Yet you behave as a glory-hoarding ruler. You campaign to be our leader, yet in reality you wish to be our Master.
The American people are the ones who got Bin Laden… You did Not! We have fought wars and slugged it with Vast Terror Organizations to get to the man you say YOU killed. The United Sates of America has won you a title sir and you have spent the last three years trying to beg, borrow and bow as you GIVE IT ALL AWAY. You just happened to be president of the USA when WE THE PEOPLE got Osama Bin Laden. We do not see you as heroic or stoic, we see you as the guy who let America Go. We got fat and weak and you gave it all away. That is your credit – you bow to foreign leaders and pander to the press. You do not represent me as a Military Man. You do not represent me as a SEAL. You do not represent me as an AMERICAN!
You do not speak for me or any American military man because though you may now be Commander in Chief, you are not the man to whom we can point our sons and say “This is the American dream, this is American exceptionalism, this is what I wish for your future”, because you Sir are NONE of these things. You Sir, are the antithesis of American Exceptionalism. Your idols are Saul Alinksi and Karl Marx and your revolutionary dreams and anti-American ideals poison your every policy. Your every action betrays the fact that in your soul you do not understand what it is to be an American, not what America truly is. Your agenda from the beginning has been to get rid of and kill everything that is and ever was American. You who so easily dismisses America’s greatness and bows to foreigners… YOU DO NOT SPEAK FOR ME. YOU DO NOT SPEAK FOR THE NAVY SEALS. YOU DO NOT SPEAK FOR THE MILITARY MAN AND you SHALL NOT claim as your prize that which you have not earned. The Navy SEALS are NOT a campaign slogan to be bantered about for play. Nor are our accomplishments, including the demise of Osama Bin Laden, yours to claim.
So you DO NOT speak for me. And I will not stand for your use and abuse of my brethren the SEALS.

Wait, I’m sorry, but what?? How can you agree with the OP’s point of saying that “Obama didn’t kill Bin Laden because he wasn’t on the battlefield and didn’t take the shot,” but at the same time say that the SEALs are innocent of civilian deaths because they were just following orders? You have to pick a side- either the credit and blame goes to the person who ordered a mission to go forward (the President) or lies with the people who executed it (the SEALs themselves). If Obama is to blame for civilian deaths, and the SEALs are blameless, then Obama deserves credit for the killing of Bin Laden and the SEALs deserve none. Your logic MUST be internally consistent, if nothing else. And why do you keep saying we should look in the mirror?
You need to quit relying on everything the media claims about all those ‘innocent’ targets. In all recent wars we had ‘Forward Observers’ directing Bombs, artillery, missiles, ect. on to designated targets. Targets determined by Military Intelligence. How many ‘innocent’ lives were lost with all the bombing in WW2? How many were lost in Viet Nam when a FEW of the villagers were known VC? Unfortunate? Absolutely!! But, it’s a W A R!! Nothing is ever a perfect target with no innocent casualties.
The media has been playing this ‘innocent lives lost’ crap to get more sympathy and more people to oppose any ‘war’ we get involved in. Just remember, if we hadn’t fought in WW2, you might be speaking German or Japanese instead of English and not be enjoying all the Freedoms we now have. The price of Freedom is never free.

You reminded me of a question I have:
How many innocent civilians is one soldier’s life worth? In other words, if an air strike could be called, but there are “innocent civilians” in the area, so going in is also being considered, if one of those going in was your son or daughter, how many “innocent civilians” would it take to be saved per soldier for you to consider that their death was worth it?
Another question:
How do you tell an “innocent civilian” from the enemy when the enemy doesn’t wear uniforms? The “innocent civilians” could be a terrorists.
Look, I absolutely respect what the vast majority of our armed service men and women do. God knows I wouldn’t be brave enough to do a tenth of what the average member of the military in active service is forced to endure.
But at the same time, there are the few members of the military who make very poor decisions. For example, take what happened to the My Lai village in Vietnam (the war you previously stated had a “few”: civilian casualties). US Army troops mutilated, raped, and killed every member of the village they could.
I mean to make two main points from the above example. The first is that you should be careful when quantifying “a few casualties.” Technically speaking, that incident alone was 347 civilian deaths (according to the US government), which is more than “a few.” Second, people on this board shouldn’t denounce a group due to the actions of a few. The soldiers involved in this incident don’t represent the Army as a whole, and their indiscretions don’t change my opinion of the soldiers fighting overseas today.
Innocent and Muslim don’t really belong in the same sentence.
This is the single worst comment I’ve seen on this board so far. How dare you say that a group of over a billion people are all damned for the actions of a few? That’s an incredibly slippery slope, one I don’t think you want to find yourself on (all Americans are also mass murderers for bombings in Central America, and similar to NAZIs for Japanese Internment, to name a few).
Innocent? Muslims?? Those two works never go together. The koran requires muslims to destroy all who are not muslim. Therefore, if they are muslim, they cannot be innocent. Their mission is to take over the world, and by assuming they are peaceful people, you are facilitating that purpose. What we need are more Navy Seals! Amen Benjamin.
And the Bible demands that anyone who doesn’t love their neighbor like themselves won’t see salvation. And it also says some things about killing any girl who isn’t a virgin when she gets married, that fathers can sell daughters off as slaves, and that you can’t eat pork or shellfish. Yes, that’s right, peoples’ value as individuals should be determined by the central book of his or her own religion.
You need to keep things in perspective. America is the only power that would invade enemy territory surgically and respectfully of innocent lives. An invasion is traditionally carried out by bombing and killing as many people as possible to submit tbe enemy by destroying their will to fight. America invented “surgical strikes” to minimize collateral damage. Our enemies are cowardly dogs that WILLINGLY strap on explosives to blow up families or fly planes into buildings to kill people that never harmed them. If America’s ways offend you so badly, go live somewhere else.
Give credit where due. Israel is even more careful and precise in their surgical strikes than the US is.
There is no such thing as an innocent muslim. Nothing the MSM (main stream media) reports is true, NOT one word. I have served overseas and watched on TV and in print the lies that the MSM perpetuate, all while I am part of the very story they are lying about. All be it that some of the information that the media is not privy to is for National Security reasons. Since they had a front row seat to the Iraq War and still continued to put their own twist on what should have been the truth and turned it into lies it is no wonder the American people (conservatives) have no faith in Obama or the media. You need to STFU and enjoy the freedom that is provided to you by men like myself, Mr. Smith, and countless others that have shed their blood and lost their lives for your freedom. So until you decide to write the check that cashes in your life for America’s Freedom, sign on the dotted line, and carry a weapon to defend those that cannot defend their self, STFU!

…not actually an answer to my question, but good try. Honestly, I’m posing a legitimate inquiry into a charge made by several members here (that an American citizen should be imprisoned), I’m merely asking “on what charge?” If no one here can give me an answer, then perhaps it’s worth reviewing why people go to jail- because they break a law and are sentenced to a term. That’s called the “rule of law” (that everyone in a system is treated equally, at least ideally), and it, as an institution, is one of the single most important things in any democracy. So if the phrase “he should be imprisoned” is just being thrown around due to political disagreements, without any legal backing or reasoning, I’ll just make this claim (which I have warranted in the above lines):

Mr Smith, seems to be suffering from Alzheimer’s or something and sounds like an angry person..I pray that he is no longer an active duty Navy Seal. Whomever the sitting president is, is the boss of all military personnel, and due respect should be given, and is expected by most of us out here. All this divisiveness and petty name calling is one of the main reasons things are not getting done in Washington, already.. It is called patriotism and huge compromise, Compromise between Dems and Repubs will get things done and it would not hurt for many of our elected officials to step up to the plate and say, let’s get things back on track rather than divide and separate and hold back.. You can prove for yourself that Obama’s birth certificate is a fake, IF YOU HAVE AN OPEN MIND. Look at Obama’s birth certificate, then please look at the following:
LETTERS HAVE THE SAME SPACE BETWEEN THEM
Each letter and number has the same space between them. This was supposed to be filled in with a typewriter. A typewriter can’t do this.
DIFFERENT FONTS USED
Look at windows 5a and 20. The dates have different fonts. Typewriters can’t do this.
TYPE DOESN’T CURVE
Look at window 6c. You can see how the window lines curve. Put a ruler under the typed words and you will see that they don’t curve.
WRONG WORD USED
Look at window 9. The word “African” wasn’t used at that time. Other birth certificates of that time have “Negro.”
MISSPELLED WORD
Go to the bottom and see where it says, “I CERTIFY THIS IS A….” This was hand stamped. The first word “the” is misspelled. The certificates before and after Obama’s aren’t misspelled.
These are the items that are easily seen with an open mind. There are many other things that prove this is a fake. Experts who have examined the document say it is done in layers. If it were a scan of the original certificate, there would only be one layer.
The experts have said it is a bad fake.
The republican party not going after our illegal president confirms my suspicion that we no long have two SEPARATE political parties. My high school had a typing class that I took. I also had a portable typewriter that I used for years.

If you ever used a typewriter, you should remember that, since the spacing is the same for each character, the spacing between the characters varies, since some characters are narrow, and some are wide. A word processor puts the letters together so that the spacing is the same between ALL characters. Obama’s birth certificate was done on a word processor. All of the experts agree that it was a lousy copy.
A typewriter also leaves an impression in the paper when the hammer hits the ribbon and pushes the ribbon into the paper. These impressions can be detected on scanned copies of the original with the right equipment. Obama’s doesn’t have any of these impressions, therefore, it wasn’t done on a typewriter.

No one was looking for bin Laden after GW Bush announced in 2002 that he didnt care where he was…. by 2005 the unit tasked to track OBL down was closed.

About all of our past Presidents and their great contributions to any war we fought while they were in Office? Viet Nam was a big fiasco and great loss of american lives because we were not allowed to fight back when shot at in many instances. LBJ even stopped the bombing of North Viet Nam (OUR ENEMY). Now, we’re supposed to pat this idiot we elected on the back for playing golf until the last minute and give him all kinds of glory and credit for Bin Laden? It was the MILITARY leaders, not Nobama, who planned this coup using military intelligence reports and put all the ‘players’ in position before Nobama said ‘Okee-dokey’. Bush gave up on bin Laden and the military didn’t have a plan to go directly after him until Obama ordered a report and plan by the military to get him….All of his cabinest and even the VP were against the raid, but Obama called the shot and took it AND WON!

Ok… Just had to register to say this… We the members of the U.S. Military, current or of Veteran status, know full well how our Oath reads. We swore to uphold and defend the Constition of the United States. Now, the President may be the Commander in Chief, but that is an elected position, which means that unfortunately at least 51% of the registered American voters collectively had their heads up their asses. I, for one have never supported the current C.I.C., but if I were still actively serving, (1) could not make that statement out loud, (2) but would be obligated by Oath of service to carry out any and all of his orders, whether I liked it or not. So, now that my active service has long since been fulfilled, I can by right state my opinion, and that, Lady, is that the man that is ILLEGALLY serving as our President is but a puppet by an as yet undisclosed coloration or foreign power is so well protected by the ignorant people that support him and the press as well. Should be removed from office, by any and all LEGAL means possible. We veterans and currently active duty service members serve(d) our NATION, and by proxy our president, whether we like him or not.

Now, I don’t know about you, but when I went through basic training, I was given a standing order by our company commander to render the proper customs, courtesies, and respects, to any military member who outranked me. Which means not speaking out in negative response to decisions made by those who outrank me.
Further, there have been executive memos, executed and signed by officers over me, specifically outlining political response in public forums, ie. the internet. So, the people who responded here are correct in saying that proper respect should be given.
What you fail to realize is that he is retired, this means that he can say whatever he wants. When you went through basic, you were told render the proper courtesy that is true but respect is not given it is earned. If an officer above me gives me an order I will execute, but that does not mean I respect him. You respect the rank not the person. If some cherry LT tells me what to do, well then roger that sir but that does not mean I owe him any respect. You seem to be getting respect for rank confused with respect for the person. I am sure you had no problem skewering President Bush, but now that a retired military man says something about against your golden boy. Everyone is all up in arms. You know I had no problem with the president I actually commended him for giving the green light on Operation Geronimo but seeing how people that are for him drop to such low levels to attack a retired Seal on his own blog. In respectful rebuttal, I couldn’t disagree with you more. One thing we DO agree on is that all politicians (regardless of party affiliation) promote themselves. Most do so in whatever way will cast them in the best light. But to say that Obama had nothing to do with our success in getting Bin Laden,,,finally and completely….is just not fair. Of course, if under Obama’s Administration we still DIDN”T have Bin Laden, many people would go right for Obama, and say: “Under his Administration we were not even able to get Bin Laden.” But now that he’s taking credit for it, the tables are turned and the comment is “why are you taking credit for something you didn’t do, but our military did??” Of course our military did it! But everything comes from the top in any Administration: be it a small business, large business, or government. So Obama deserves some credit for this, even though any politician will use this type of positive thing to further their own career. That’s just politics. GW Bush would have done the same thing in an election year: so would have Bill Clinton. Doesn’t matter what their party is. People look for reasons to tear down leaders they don’t like or leaders of the opposing party. So stop acting as if any sitting president in line for re-election wouldn’t have done the same thing: because they WOULD. I feel better now.

In fact, if you remember a little less than two years ago, his administration actually charged and attempted to court-martial three Navy Seals from Seal Team Six, when a terrorist suspect they captured, complained they had punched him during the take-down and bloodied his nose. Obama’s administration further commented how brutal they were.. The left were calling them Nazi’s and Baby Killers. Now all of a sudden, the very brave men they vilified are now heroes when they make his administration look good in the eyes of the public. Obama just happened to be the one in office when the CIA finally found the And our sailors took him out. Essentially, Obama only gave an answer, Yes or No, to him being taken out. This is NOT an Obama victory, but an AMERICAN victory!!

I just find it interesting that the author uses other Navy SEALs for his own glory as much as Obama does. I find it also interesting that he speaks for all Navy Seals with the lines “We men who have taken the oath, say ENOUGH. You do not speak for me, a former Navy SEAL, or any one of the league of men whom I have earned the right to be among”. Just me thinking as a concerned veteran though.
As a former sailor myself Mr. Smith, I have to say I salute you for your service and thank you for your dedication to SEALs. However, since you are so against Obama bragging about the Bin Laden raid, as a man of honor and integrity I would hope that you were saying the same thing about Bush when he was touting about capturing Saddam. It’s really easy to forget that Bush, Cheney, and Karl Rove wasted no time in talking about how he and his administration stopped Saddam and brought him to justice. I am just saying Mr. Smith, if you’re going to condemn Obama for this, then you better have been condemning Bush for doing the same thing. Otherwise you bring dishonor to yourself by showing what a hypocrite you really are.
You’re a little old to be using school yard logic in your arguments. You sound like Alan Colmes who consistently does the same thing when he answers, well what about Bush or what about Reagan. How paradoxical to watch our country frantically seek to save itself in the very face of its own self-destruction. As more and more of the actual truth comes out about the raid, its becoming increasingly obvious that Obama’s decision to get Osama wasn’t such a gutsy call after all. The CIA had been monitoring Osama’s hideout for months. Obama knew where Osama was for weeks, and could have pulled the trigger at any time, but instead mulled it over. As it turns out, any President in Obama’s place would have likely made the same call.
When the raid finally was launched, there was basically no resistance in the compound, save one of Osama’s agents who did open fire and was taken out quickly. Everyone else in the compound was unarmed, offered no resistance, and were shot down like dogs by the SEALS. The raid ended with Osama, likely a frail old man with failing kidneys, being shot on what was basically his death bed, after also offering no resistance.
I can’t help but chuckle at liberals who go bonkers over a cop laying a finger on an unarmed suspect, now cheering this raid that was given the go ahead by Obama, in which a bunch of unarmed people were shot. My fondness for all forms of violence doesn’t produce any outrage about the raid. I bet it was rather amusing watching the compound’s inhabitants get shot down as they plead for their lives.
I just had to point out liberal hypocrisy. Libs normally hate force by the police and indeed the military, but if the use of brutality helps Fuehrer Obama politically, they’re all for it.
As an ex military man, Obama committed treason as far as I am concerned when he threatened to withold active duty military pay in a temper tantrum to get his way on further increasing the federal deficit. He is not worthy to hold the office.

For a SEAL to be told to ‘grow a set’ is ridiculous; these are some of the most brave men I have been made aware of. For anyone to insult these brave, smart warriors is unbelieveable. For now, freedom of speech still exists, and I am happy to read what a retired SEAL has to say. That I agree with him is of little consequence. That he has given us all the right to respond to his is what made America great.
Of course the president, whoever they may be, gets to take credit for actions like this. He alone issued the order, nobody else did and nobody else could have. If the mission had gone south and we failed, people, rightly so, would have blamed him.

I don’t know you and you don’t know me, but he is legally the commander in chief and we took an oath to follow legal orders. I am sure you know this because it is practically the first thing you learn. I will continue to follow the oath I took whether I agree or not. My men don’t always agree with my decisions either, but during combat they obey my orders either way, because they have pride and honor. You don’t sound like any SF guys I have met either. OK, so first off, I notice that you use the term SF instead of Special Forces or team guy, which is what most people that have never been around the special operations community like to say, probably why you have trouble making the distinction between Special Forces and Navy Seals. They are as you know a totally different spectrum on the Special Operations scale. Also you are probably an officer since you said my men and no self respecting NCO would call his guys, his men. Also you are probably in the National Guard or Reserves because you talk about combat and being in country yet you seem to believe that Navy Seals are a bunch of guys that would let a supposed shitbag as you believe this Seal is, stay in their ranks, this makes me think you have no idea what you are talking about. I also doubt the validity of you being in country, I think you are at home watching TV, reading a Navy Seals page, that you have the right to not read. You would be naive to believe that Navy Seals did not have missions before OEF and OIF. I am sure you did your one or two deployments to Iraq so that you can talk about how awesome you are with your civilian friends but I guarantee you that this Seal has done more in his peacetime career than you have done in your service so far. Let me just put it this way, If it were former President Bush taking credit for killing Osama Bin Laden, then I’m sure many conservatives would be praising him and liberals would be complaining for the President taking all the credit, so in the grand scheme of things this article is irrelevant and bias, just as it would be if it were the other way around.
There is no need for him to give utmost deference to the president, he has the right to dissent. Some deference to the truth might be in order or appreciated, though.
The president has never pretended that he personally led the raid, personally planned the specific operational details, and he has CONSTANTLY given credit, first and foremost, to the SEAL team that participated. To claim otherwise, as this former SEAL has done, is simply dishonest.
It isn’t necessarily “politicizing” events when Romney is on the record, beforehand, as being critical of Obama stating he’d take action to go after bin Laden in Pakistan. It might be if he created some imaginary scenario, not based on the other candidate’s own words, like the GOP did with their smearing of Kerry in 2004, but hey, this is a comparison one can make without spin.
What did Obama, as a candidate, say he’d do to get bin Laden? What was the right-wing’s reaction? What did Romney and McCain say, specifically? What did Obama actually do compared to what he said? What were the results?
Everyone was on the record, and now we have the advantage of seeing how events actually rolled out. That leaves plenty of room for a very fair comparison of policy stances. Sorry if Obama comes out looking like a champ, and the GOP like chumps given the circumstances. That’s the risk one takes when, instead of taking an honest stand based on policy differences, one’s stances are based simply on being the opposite of what Obama says. We see this, for instance, when Obama rolls out initiatives based on proposals by past Republicans, and then Republicans automatically oppose what they once proposed. It’s risky because if he’s right, that makes you wrong.
There’s no refuting that getting bin Laden was successful. There’s no refuting that conservatives are on the record opposing the very things Obama did to get him. Being blatantly wrong now means that conservatives, like this author, must now spin to minimize any credit Obama might deserve for his part.
Let’s not pretend that this screed is some sort of patriotic upwelling, standing up for America. This is partisan hyperbole. Whether it’s delivered by a former SEAL or some bloated hack who never saw action doesn’t change what it is.

I respect the writer of this as one who willingly risked his life to defend America. Also, I respect him for the incredible effort he put forth to become an elite warrior in order to better defend America. However, Obama has in fact claimed some credit for the decision (which he made and which Romney said earlier that he wouldn’t have pursued Bin Laden and therefore wouldn’t have made before-mentioned decision) which he deserves. He did in fact make critical decisions in personnel and tactical arenas that directly led to the assassination of Bin Laden. In fact, Ronald Regan claimed credit for the downfall of the Soviet Union, even though it was actually due to the efforts of our intelligence and military community. George H.W. Bush claimed credit for winning the first Gulf War even though it was also due to the efforts of our military community. George W. Bush claimed credit for winning the second Iraq War even though we didn’t win it until Obama got into office, over 5 years after Bush ordered our brave men and women to go to war while he himself sat in the White House, on Golf Courses, at his ranch “clearing brush” while our brave men and women died. Again, I have much respect for the writer of this article as far as his service to his country is concerned and I pray that God blesses him for the unselfish service he gave so that all of us could live in freedom. However, his political logic is skewed and, although our military deserves most of the credit, Obama does deserve credit for delivering on a campaign promise…. he promised to do everything he could to bring bin Laden to justice… and he did. Therefore, he absolutly should be allowed to remind the American people of that fact as they are deciding on which candidate would make a better president. I can guarantee you that Mitt Romney would do the same and to be honest, I wouldn’t be surprised if Romney tries to take credit somehow for the assassination of bin Laden. He has already tried to take the credit for the Auto bailout (which, coincidently, he completely opposed) which somehow was a complete success in spite of his ardent opposition. People, please wake up and see past partisan politics. We need a leader who can lead us into the future and not just return us to past failed policies. Romney wants to keep the status quo which will eventually lead us into environmental and economic disaster. Please vote for someone who has a sustainable long-term vision for our country and not just a quick fix. Have we learned nothing from G.W. Bush’s presidency???

As I read this blog I can certainly understand all positions. Especially Mr. Smith and his passions and convictions. Ironically enough having an opinion and perspective and being able to verbalize, express, and convey those opinions freely is the very core and essence of what it means to be American. At the end of the day as Americans we are free. Sure you can look at it through whatever lens you wish and misconstrue what freedom truly means, but no one is standing over your back telling you what you can and cannot do, what you can and cannot wear, where you can and cannot work. So in simplest reality we are free. Now what I have hard understanding is why as a free country and nation that has led the world in so many arenas we continue to be divided within. So much posturing about who is right and who is wrong, pointing the finger, placing blame, name calling, a whole slew of negative statements and unproductive rhetoric. Look deeper and they are all motivated by some sort of agenda whether personal or political. I think we forget that in spite of our personal or political differences we are still one nation and one country. We are the same, no different. We are from the same country and we all have or share a lot of the same goals. None of us are perfect, not me you, your neighbor, the President, the senate, congress, the various people responding to this blog, Mr. Smith, no one. We all make mistakes, we all pick ourselves up by the boot straps and try to do better the next time. It’s and ongoing process. I believe as a country we have to work harder towards coming together. It doesn’t matter who is in office. Every President has been criticized, made mistakes, had success, whatever. It always happens, why? because we are not perfect. In fact we will never be. But what is undeniably is the fact we are a country and as a country we should stand strong together regardless of our personal or political differences or opinions. The sooner we can stop the internal bickering, the sooner we can get to the business at hand of continuing to make our country strong, to protect country, to make a difference in the world. If you are so caught up at pointing the finger and wanting to place blame and punish people for making mistakes or being imperfect, I think a more productive use of your time other than writing a tirade or negative comments and insults would be to take a long hard look in the mirror and figure out how you can be the catalyst for change within yourself. Because in my experience what I have found is that people who externalize such vicious and negative rants and rhetoric have some pretty serious internal issues that have yet to be resolved. “You have to be the change you want to see” You want change, change yourself first!

It’s amazing how disrespectful and unpatriotic our country has become. Obama won the presidency through the democratic process that has made our country great, a process I might add that was created by Anglo-Saxon Protestants. It would be fine if the way many nay-sayers fought back were through the polls, but smearing a man’s name, dragging him through the mud, and belittling him because he represents a new America is just hateful and I would even dare to say treason. I have never respected or known any politicians to be completely honest or open completely. And “all” politicians use rhetoric to help them win races. It’s just embarrasing when I read such hate and I become concerned that we have missed opportunities to truly bring our grievences to the forefront without showing how truly angry we are that our president is not a white, aged and republican. We need to come together as a nation. This petty selfishness and blatant disrespect for the leader of the free world should not be tolerated. It’s not “free” speech, it’s “hate” speech and we do as Americans have a right to be protected from this type of “terrorism” against our own leader.

The military oath is an oath of office. He is no longer in service therefore no longer under that oath. The oath has no expiration date because it ends when ever the soldier is discharged. The “navy seal” (which he is not) handed President Obama nothing in this story of his.. Obama and his campaign staff has taken enough heat for the Romney / bin laden ad. . President Obama uses the terms “I” and “me” correctly and all the while has given due credit to others in military service. Obama was born in Hawaii and is a United States citizen. .
I hope you were just as angry in the 2004 election when Bush bragged about getting Saddam. Somehow I doubt it though.
Politics aside, and as a sworn enlisted servicemember myself, I find it interesting that in this gentleman’s citation of the United States Armed Forces Oath of Enlistment, the sentence, “…I will obey the orders of the President of the United States…” was conveniently omitted. They don’t call it “the service” for nothing. That oath is taken presumably with the understanding that the Commander in Chief is an elected official provided in the Constitution that every Soldier, Sailor, Marine and Airmen also is sworn to “…support and defend.”
Ask any Ph.D of Political Science, American Government or History etc. what the most effective and appropriate way to take action against an elected official that has done nothing legally wrong but that you just don’t like or agree with and he or she will say “Vote and persuade others to vote with you.” This article may be such an action but this gentleman has compromised his own morals and military bearing by the way he wrote it.
As soldier of the US Army, I consider anyone who declares their desire that their President fail, like Rush Limbaugh did a short time ago, or whose words or actions inhibit the President from doing the best job he knows how as the elected presiding authority of our nation a “domestic enemy”. I hope this article does not incite such behavior because it would be sad to place a former Navy SEAL in the same category as those who actively seek an ill fate for those they have elected.
So what if President Obama took more credit than he deserves because in short, if you wear the uniform he’s still your boss, which is something any civilian can relate to. You do what you are told if that’s what you signed up for. If you don’t want to then get out; out of the service, out of the media, or out of the country for all I care. If you want to stay, learn your place and do things the right way. You’ll sleep better at night and die happier.
So as a soldier in the US Army you feel like the President has done a great job? How did you feel when you thought you weren’t going to get paid? Wait I bet that didn’t matter to you because you are reserve or guard. Not that there is anything wrong with that. I just want to know on one of your multiple deployments to country when our President decided the Iraqi people should lead patrols and your buddies got shot and killed by those same people how did that make you feel? Guess what buddy more of the military feels the same way this Navy Seal does. If you look around and ask all the guys in your unit you will see that I am right. He can’t round us all up. By the way when we voted for him which I did he promised a ton and has given nothing in return, we can bitch all we want. just not act on it. You need to learn your place and drive on.

I think we can all agree that we, the American people, are losing the entire “character” makeup that made this country so great in the first place. We went from a time when Washingotn refused to treat prisoners of war (president washington) badly to a country where everyone is ignorant to just say “kill all the muslims.” I am a Catholic, but educated enough to know that only a small fraction (roughly 5 percent) of the muslim population are considered “radical,” and an even smaller number jihadists. I have dear friends that are Muslim, and have just as much hatred for the cowardly acts commited on 9/11 as any other true American. We live in a time where obesity is king, disrespect to superiors (whether it is Bush being called the devil or any number of things im reading people call Obama in this article to the way children talk to teachers and their parents) runs rampant, and gratification must be instant. Im only 27, but i can still remember a time when the majority called their elders sir, and you greeted a stranger with a handshake when introduced. The bottom line is, i dont care if you dont like the President. Get over YOURSELF, and show respect where it is due. The MAJORITY of this country elected him into office, so you are disrespecting YOUR COUNTRY by exhibiting the level of disrespect that many on here are. If you dont like things the way they are, go to the polls and do something about it. I recall Obama thanking the seals for their brave work they accomplished in the mission resulting in Bin Laden’s life being taken. No one said ANYTHING when Saddam was captured about Bush “getting him.” I thank Mr. Smith for his contributions to this country, as i have SEAL friends myself (maybe he knows Donald Barber, a dear friend of mine). Its time for all of us to do our part, which is to serve our country the best way we can, which is through hard work, dedication and service to others, and to love thy neighbor. A great man once said, “Ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country.” Im tired of hearing countless people asking what had Obama done for them? Our nations problems lie more deeply rooted than that simple problem.

Like others, I respect that you were a Navy Seal and have worked hard to earn that. However your post strikes me as a rant without a shred of evidence to support anything you say. You are entitled to your opinions, and you have the right to express them. However I hope that parents of African-American boys can point to their kids and say “Yes, you now have hope of being President”. I hope that patients treated under ObamaCare enjoy their newfound ability to receive health care. And I hope that all the homosexual couples in the US soon have the right to get married and serve in the US military. You call Obama Marxist, but there is a huge gap between the centre-right politics of democrats and the far left policies of Marxists.
I am an American living overseas, and I was never so ashamed to be American as when George W. Bush was re-elected as president. When Obama was elected, I had hope for Americans again. Many of the problems Obama faces are too big for one President to solve, but at least he is looking after ALL Americans. He is also a Presidnet who realises that the US is not the only country in the world, which is a significant shift in US foreign policy.

While I respect the SEALS, I do not agree with these arguments. Obama has made it clear that this was a victory “for our nation”. If he says “I” or “my”, it’s because he is the president. He is the commander in chief. The SEALs were the ones to carry out the task, but the decision to make the task at all was solely Obama’s. He took a risk, and it turned out favorably. I think he deserves a bit of bragging rights, especially with the election coming up. Please stop being so closed-minded.

While he has not “taken credit” for killing OBL in the manner you claim — always thanking the military for ITS success — he certainly is entitled to claim some credit! Given that he gave the order, oversaw the operation every step of the way, and commanded the operation to its conclusion . . . yeah, he gets to to take credit! Oh, and the U.S. Military doesn’t have the luxury of unilaterally authorizing it’s own incursion into a sovereign country with whom we are not at war . . . only the President does. Therefore the Navy Seals, nor the military writ large, would be able to claim victory for OBL’s killing, but for the courage of the President to send them in! Get over yourself!
Incidentally . . . I forgot to ask . . . were you a member of Seal Team Six? If you were, congratulations and thanks for your courage and sacrifice. If not, then shut the f*** up about the President’s victory. it was more his than yours!

Never, in the history of this country has a sitting President been subjected to so much vitriol and disrespect. While we may all disagree on policy, I find it unbelievably anti-patriotic to hold so much contempt for our nation’s ELECTED LEADER based on nothing more than intrinsic racism and conservative ideologies. Even those of us on the left gave Bush the respect his office deserved, depsite the fact that he just happened to be handed the votes of the state in which his brother was the sitting Governor. As an active member of the U.S. military, I am ashamed that this man considers himself a patriot and a navy seal no less. If he knew anything about the military he would know that as a leader, even though you were not involved in the incident yourself you are given credit for the deed. If he weren’t on fox news’s payroll, he would never rebuke his oath to serve and protect America, and its elected leadership, at least until such time as they are no longer in elected office. Sewing hate discontent and mistrust in our countrys leadership is certainly doing the opposite of all three. I love how he uses his term of no longer being in the navy seals, because for a job that is a lifelong commitment and fraternity, he has done just that. Removed himself from that brotherhood. People are not to be judged on who they were, but what they have become, and this man through his words has become a traitor to the service he touts.

What a joke this guy is. He goes on tv to diminish the President of the country he claims to honor. When Obama speaks of the Seals and what they do it is with nothing but respect. In every speech he has given regarding Bin Laden he always acknoledges the bravery and strength of the Seals who carried out the mission(he was not one of them, never claimed to be). He talks of political ploys, yet he is on fox trying to make a case for the other guy in the election..the irony is comical. At a time when we have men and women fighting for this clowns freedom he has the nerve to show his disrespect of the presidency in this way. I wonder where this guy was when Bush proudly stated “WE got him” in regards to the caprture of Saddam Hussein. I wonder if he cringed with disgust upon hearing it. And I must have missed the part of the Presidents job description where it says that in a time of crisis the President must be dressed appropriately. I have respect for the office but I have no respect for Obama and all his broken promises starting with the promise to broadcast health care negotiations on C Span and then promptly crafted it in secret behind closed doors and locked out the Republicans.
