We expect perfection from companies in Silicon Valley, writes Sarah Lacy at Tech Crunch.

So how can we be so apathetic when we see true abysmal fiscal neglect, especially when it’s that of a pseudo-company in which we all essentially own shares?

That pseudo-company is the United States government and in a thorough report issued today, Kleiner Perkins partner Mary Meeker has taken all emotions, politics, spin and manipulation out of the issues, to present a steely-eyed view of just how hosed our financial situation is. Spoiler alert: It’s not pretty. America is gripped by a new red menace and this time, it’s not the commies– it’s a sea of red ink. If politicians reported to voters the way management reports to shareholders, no one would finish out their terms.

But here’s a sober view of the downside of our wishfully innate belief that we deserve to have it all: We are in a deep financial hole, and there’s not an easy, pain-free or politically palatable way out.

Judicial Watch has obtained some new documents from the late Sen. Ted Kennedy’s massive, heavily-redacted FBI file. One interesting bit: During a trip to South America in 1961, then-Assistant District Attorney Kennedy had a party at a brothel: “while Kennedy was in Santiago made arrangements to ‘rent’ a brothel for an entire night. Kennedy allegedly invited one of the Embassy chauffeurs to participate in the night’s activities.” Kennedy was in South America to meet various “left-wingers,” and Communists, according to the memo. (To what end? The memo doesn’t say.) Diplomacy was different back in the 60s, one hopes.Keep in mind this was the same Kennedy FBI file that offered lurid hints of Kennedy “sex parties” in the Carlyle Hotel. Sexiest FBI file ever?

Drudge threw up the flashing blue and red light Friday afternoon — Newt Gingrich said the words “Obama” and “impeachment”. The reaction to it lit a flicker of hope in the hearts of many Americans.  That someone with national stature has finally, finally, said aloud what we’ve thinking too:  What more does Obama have to do before someone — anyone — takes up impeachment proceedings against him?

In an exclusive interview with Newsmax.TV Friday, former House Speaker Newt Gingrich said President Barack Obama’s decision not to fully enforce the Defense of Marriage law eventually could lead to a constitutional crisis, as he has directly violated his constitutional duties by arbitrarily suspending a law.

Gingrich even suggested that, if a “President Sarah Palin” had taken a similar action, there would have been immediate calls for her impeachment. Asked directly whether President Obama could be subject to articles of impeachment, Gingrich said, “I think that’s something you get to much later. But I think clearly it is a dereliction of duty. Clearly it’s a violation of his constitutional oath. Clearly it is not something that can be allowed to stand.”

Richard N. Weltz’ Obama Completes His Trifecta lists several Constitutional violations by Obama and his corrupt Department of Justice under AG Eric Holder.  Weltz ends the piece asking, “What are we gonna do about it?”

Notable  examples in the scant couple of years The One has been in office include: refusal to enforce voting laws against intimidation at the polls in Chicago, efforts to use the regulatory functions of the EPA to circumvent the specific legislation of Congress to ban cap-and-trade, refusal to enforce immigration laws, and attempts by the FCC to regulate matters banned from its jurisdiction by law.

We need not even mention the undemocratic parliamentary tactics and outright bribery used by Obama and his allies to ram through the unpopular and clearly unconstitutional ObamaCare bill — without it even having been read by most Congress members.

On the judiciary side, we witness the executive ignoring a Federal Court ruling on ObamaCare’s unconstitutionality, the refusal — to the point where an order of compliance had to be issued from the bench — to refrain from imposing an illegal moratorium on oil drilling; and, now the clearest and most blatant power grab of all. Obama has arrogated to himself, in the matter of DOMA, the power to declare that law unconstitutional and order his Justice Department not to contest lawsuits challenging it.

In the meantime, while usurping and/or undercutting the legitimate powers and functions of the other two branches, in the three areas for which the Executive does have power and responsibility  — faithfully executing the laws, conducting foreign policy, and commanding the armed forces — this megalomaniacal narcissist has proven a spectacular failure.

What have we allowed to happen to the American concept of separation of powers? Are we abandoning this unique and hallowed concept for a tinpot dictatorship dressed up in a fancy suit and fancy oratory? Where and how do we stop this train to ruination?

The growing public mood to impeach was evident in the comments:

This is a good summary list of charges for impeachment. I believe this President will be impeached. The future of the Democrat party is at stake in 2012. IF the economy dives any further (which it is) and continued Chaos around the world. It will drive Obama’s numbers into the toilet. Throw in the lack of a birth certificate (state verification) and the Democrats will be looking for a way to rid themselves of OBama.

What you have described is the case for impeachment – the facts are clear – high crimes and misdemeanors everywhere. Perhaps the readers of AT or members of the Tea Party, or (perish the thought) our elected Republican representatives could start that ball rolling. I don’t know what else this administration needs to do (or fail to do) before someone calls them out very loudly and very publicly! The time to throw PC under the bus has long since passed. I’ve written to my Senators and Congressman – have you? Who’s with me? Let’s roll . . . . . it could make the months leading up to Nov 2012 very interesting.

A gal in my community has come up with a great idea for a fundraiser.  In this case, it’s to raise money for “The Liberty Bell Center Museum” here on the Space Coast. But you could do this to benefit your Tea Party, Meet-up group, or favorite charity.  She writes:

My boyfriend’s Rotary Club annual chili cookoff came up on our calendar and it got me to thinking. I know you’ve heard the saying: “Its as American as Apple Pie ” – so I looked that saying up.  Came up with a bunch of sites, including this one from wiktionary.

American as apple pie (US, simile) Having characteristics considered quintessential to American life; very American.

Anyway, I thought an apple pie  (or cobbler or fritter) contest could be a fun idea for 4^th of july and could be a fundraiser for both the museum, as well as your organizations.   The way the Rotary Club does the chili contest, they have little plastic cups, each contestant gets bunch of the cups.   Contestants pay $25 entry fee, attendees pay $5 for tickets for 10 samples. There are prizes and sponsors, and usually the contestants encourage their own supporters to come since there is a Judge’s Choice vote and a People’s Choice vote.

…I thought if I could pull some different groups who really do love this country together, that we could all help each other and have fun in the process.   Maybe even tie in a craft show of American Made products …

It was 2007, and then-Sen. Barack Obama was on the campaign trail in South Carolina trying to drum up support for his presidential platform. During a stump speech he made an interesting promise: should union collective bargaining privileges be threatened (such as they are in Wisconsin), he would “walk on that picket line”:

“And understand this: If American workers are being denied their right to organize and collectively bargain when I’m in the White House, I’ll put on a comfortable pair of shoes myself, I’ll walk on that picket line with you as President of the United States of America. Because workers deserve to know that somebody is standing in their corner.”

According the White House, however, Obama has no plans to do that. Press Secretary Jay Carney was asked about the quote on Thursday and brushed aside the comment.

“I think what we have made pretty clear is that the president thinks, and we think, that, obviously a lot of states in the union are dealing with fiscal issues, big problems in their state budgets… they need to act responsibly, tighten their belts, live within their means just as we in Washington, the executive branch, congress, need to do with our federal situation,” said Carney.

The shoes, for now, won’t be hitting the picket pavement.

Last September, John McTernan, author of As America Has Done to Israel,  joined us on my radio program.  We spoke of what’s to come according to Biblical prophecy, and how those events already are playing out.  We also discussed America’s role in it, and how our leaders would turn us against Israel.

John currently is recuperating from knee surgery, undergoing physical therapy and the discomfort that comes along with it.  But that hasn’t prevented him from sharing his observations of what’s unfolding in the world and its correlation to what is written in the Bible.

Right now the Hard Left is rising in America through the unions. They have organized the protests have been ready for a while. In the near future, the unions will merge with the Hard Left in colleges along with homosexuals, Muslims, illegal aliens with their supports and other minorities. They will attempt to bring down governments just like what happened in Egypt.

Remember, I told you over and over that the Hard Left Fascists and IslamoFascists are merged into one. The Hard Left hates America and wants to see it destroyed. As the economy worsens, these groups will quickly merge into a militant uprising.

I have watched all the Middle East and Islamic pundits endlessly talk and write about what is happening. The vast majority are clueless as they hope for democracy and moderation. Glenn Beck on his radio show this morning explained why the Wisconsin democrat senators are staying away as long as they are — it is giving the unions time to organize and put into place their shock troops who will demonstrate at the capitols of all 50 states.

He pointed to an interview done yesterday by Megyn Kelly on Fox News, who interviewed one of the fleebagger senators.

It is costing the state of Wisconsin millions of dollars in lost teacher’s pay, clean-up and repairs from the damage done to the capitol building by the orcs that are screaming and slobbering day and night inside the building.

Megyn asked Erpenbach to justify his absence as the state legislature waits to vote on Gov. Scott Walker’s budget proposal.  “You have to go do your job. It is not your job to leave the state and cower in Illinois,” she said.  “How is hiding out in Chicago discharging the duties of your office?”

While he dismissed the notion that he was “cowering,” Erpenbach insisted he and his fellow Democrats were doing their jobs, answering emails and phone calls from outside the state.

“What we do in this country is we vote. You can vote no and you can rail on the senate floor why this is wrong,” Megyn insisted.  “You gotta vote, sir.”

It’s Van Jones and the American Dream Movement.  Two years after the Netroots convention where all this was planned (and Beck has tape of this), it “spontaneously” two years later comes up with websites, sponsors, everything else?  It’s all in place, when it’s all of a sudden an emergency rally in all 50 states? In response to a caller, Glenn said:

America, you are watching a play, you are being manipulated, and no one in the media will do their damn homework.  Be very, very careful.

Why do the teachers who disagree with this continue to give their money to these union communist agitators? Why don’t they start to stand up and say “We’re not with this union”?

The truth will always win.  As long as you have the truth on your side, you’ll always win.  The truth shall set you free.  It only takes one.  One person makes a difference.  Stand up.  Your country and your freedom is at stake.

Watched the lift-off from the beach. Got off a couple of shots before Discovery climbed into the clouds. Thousands of people at the beach to watch the show. Roads were clogged all over the Space Coast to witness Shuttle Discovery’s final launch into space.

Meanwhile, Apollo astronaut Gene Cernan was on Fox prior to and just after the launch. What did he say? He blasted the Obama Administration for shutting down the program. Said the shuttles were designed and built to fly a hundred times. This mission marks only the 39th flight for Discovery, NASA’s most traveled space shuttle. Said with the end of the manned flight program, we are giving up our position in space travel and technology. “We are disenfranchising ourselves from space.”  Said Obama is an a-hole. OK, I made that part up. But I’d bet a dozen black chips and everything already in the pot it’s what he’s thinking…

Discovery is the oldest of NASA’s three surviving space shuttles and the first to be decommissioned this year. Two missions remain, first by Atlantis and then Endeavour, to end the 30-year program. Launch director Mike Leinbach anticipated it would be “tough” to see Discovery take off for the 39th and final time, and even harder when it returns March 7. Read Fox News’ report. But don’t look for the interview with Gene Cernan. It ain’t on the page…

Meeting young Obama.

John Drew writes today in the American Thinker…

But before I get to that, Dr. Drew was a guest on my radio program a year ago, and said this about meeting and getting to know Obama while at Occidental:

“Obama was into Frantz Fanon, a french revolutionary who believed in violent resolution, and wrote a book “Wretched of the Earth.”  Obama was definitely a Marxist-Leninist then in that he believed that the union members and the working class would revolt and overthrow the capitalist system. And that you needed to have this intellectual elite vanguard leading that movement and educating the working class so it could take over the government.”

Drew added that what he found particularly chilling was Obama’s charisma.  He said one of the themes of charismatic leaders is the sincerity of their beliefs.  He said, “They don’t put you in charge of a country if you don’t really believe in that core ideology, so I think it was Obama’s sincerity that won him the trust of Alice Palmer (former Illinois state senator) and Bill Ayers. And it’s winning him the trust of Andy Stern.

Here’s what Dr. Drew wrote in today’s American Thinker.  It squares with what he told us during our interview.

When I first saw Obama, I remember I was standing on the porch of Boss’s parents’ impressive home as a sleek, expensive luxury car pulled up the driveway.  Two young men emerged from the vehicle.  They were well-dressed and looked like they were born to wealth and privilege.  I was a little surprised to learn they were Boss’s friends from Occidental College until she articulated the underlying0 political connection.  “They’re on our side,” she said.

The taller of the two was Obama, then only 19, who towered over his five-foot-five companion, Mohammed Hasan Chandoo – a wealthy, 21 year old Pakistani student.  Chandoo had a full dark black, neatly trimmed moustache, and was dressed in expensive clothes.  Nevertheless, Obama was the more handsome of the two.  At six foot two, Obama carried himself with the dignity and poise of a model.  The diminutive Chandoo, in contrast, came across as more of a practical, businessman type.  Obama displayed a visible deference to Chandoo when they were standing together at the vehicle.

Chandoo was vaguely familiar to me as a participant in the earlier anti-apartheid rallies on the Occidental College campus.  In David Remnick’s book, The Bridge, Chandoo’s bona fides as a committed Marxist were well-known to those close to him.  Chandoo’s girlfriend at the time, Margot Mifflin, told Remnick that “[I]n college, Hasan was a socialist, a Marxist, which is funny since he is from a wealthy family.” (See, Remnick, David, The Bridge, Alfred A, Knopf, 2010, page 104.)  Young Obama, on the other hand, was completely new to me.
“This is Barack Obama,” Boss said.

My first meeting with young Barack Obama raised strong feelings and left me with a positive first impression.  At the time, I felt I’d persuaded a young man anticipating a Marxist-Leninist revolution to appreciate the more practical alternative of conventional politics as a channel for his socialist views.

I met Obama in December of 1980, a couple of days after Christmas, in Portola Valley — a small town near Stanford University in Palo Alto, CA.  I was a 23 year old second-year graduate student in Cornell’s Government Department, and had flown to California to visit a 21 year old girlfriend, Caroline Boss.  Boss was a senior at Occidental College, where she had taken a class in the fall of 1980 with political theorist Roger Boesche.  She met and befriended Obama in that class.

Inside the house, Mrs. Boss prepared snacks for everyone.  All four of the students lit up after-dinner cigarettes in the dining room of the Boss’s home. Caroline Boss sat at the head of the table to my left.  Obama sat directly across from me.  Chandoo sat on the other side of the table on Obama’s left.  Naturally, our conversation gravitated towards the coming revolution. I expected that my undergraduate friends would be interested in hearing my latest take on contemporary Marxist thought. I was in for quite a bit of a shock.

My graduate studies that fall had tempered my earlier Marxism with a more realistic perspective.  I thought a revolution was not in the cards anymore. There was no inevitability, in my mind, to the old idea that the proletariat would rise up and overthrow the ruling classes.  Now, the idea that we could entirely eliminate the profit motive from an advanced industrialized economy seemed like a childhood fantasy.  The future, I now thought, would belong to nations with mixed economic systems — like those in Europe — where there was government planning of the economy combined with a greater effort to produce a more equitable distribution of wealth.  It made more sense to me to focus on elections rather than on preparing for a coming revolution.

Boss and Obama, however, had a starkly different view. They believed that the economic stresses of the Carter years meant revolution was still imminent. The election of Reagan was simply a minor set-back in terms of the coming revolution.  As I recall, Obama repeatedly used the phrase “When the revolution comes….”  In my mind, I remember thinking that Obama was blindly sticking to the simple Marxist theory that had characterized my own views while I was an undergraduate at Occidental College.  “There’s going to be a revolution,” Obama said, “we need to be organized and grow the movement.”  In Obama’s view, our role must be to educate others so that we might usher in more quickly this inevitable revolution.

I know this may be implausible to some readers, but I distinctly remember Obama surprising me by bringing up Frantz Fanon and colonialism.  He impressed me with his knowledge of these two topics, topics which were not among my strong points — or of overwhelming concern to me.  Boss and Obama seemed to think their ideological purity was a persuasive argument in predicting that a coming revolution would end capitalism.  While I felt I was doing them a favor by providing them with the latest research, I saw I was in danger of being cast as a reactionary who did not grasp the nuances of international Marxist theory.

In what universe did I wake up this morning?

On what planet could you possibly find an article passing as news that describes John McCain as one of the top ten conservatives in the Senate?

Oh my goodness, Alice!  It’s the Mad Hatter!  No, silly… that’s John McCain! And we’ve just fallen through the rabbit hole….

Sen. John McCain of Arizona is just one of eight Republicans who tied as most conservative senator in National Journal’s 2010 vote ratings. This is the first time McCain has received such a high conservative ranking. The King and Queen of Hearts DIAMONDS in the White House will celebrate Black History Month with a Feb. 24 concert celebrating Detroit’s best-known musical import. President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama will host “The Motown Sound: In Performance at the White House,” a tribute to the record company Berry Gordy Jr. founded here at the dawn of the 1960s.

The concert will be filmed for broadcast at 8 p.m. March 1 on PBS stations.

Last April the Tea Party Express rallied with Sarah Palin on Boston’s Common in the heart of that historic city.  That’s where I met Pete Ingemi, aka Da Tech Guy, blogger, bowler, and host of his own weekly radio program.  Dressed in a black topcoat and fedora, he wore Catholic rosary beads around his neck, the crucifix sitting over the knot in his tie.  How we met is kinda comical. Heck, Pete is kinda comical… It all began when…

…Robert Stacy McCain, aka “The Other McCain” ran up to me as we were piling aboard the Reagan Blue Bus to leave Boston and breathlessly asked if Pete could jump aboard with me for the 14-hour overnight trip to D.C. where the 3-week tour was set to wrap up the next day, Tax Day, April 15th.

Not being in a position to say yea or nay, McCain assured me he had already cleared it with the TPX’ media guy (Levi Russell) and we were good to go.

So, Da Tech Guy climbed aboard and for the next 14 hours, we rode together, punch drunk silly from exhaustion. Sometime between Boston and DC, Darla Dawald and Mellie Reid from Patriot Action Network (then known as Resistnet) jumped up to perform a side-splitting funny song and dance routine that kept us entertained for at least 50 bumpy, swervy miles.

As the day progressed the Union forces got more and more agitated particularly when Radio Host Graham
handed out fake “doctor of love” notes parodying the events of Wisconsin.  His presence seemed to drive the union people wild, even stranger was the reaction to State Rep Rich Bastien (R Gardner) who mingled with the crowd to try to hear them out but was greeted by Nazi salutes by a self-proclaimed Jewish woman in between vulgar epithets.  In the final irony, when the protest was over the Union groups left the area in front of the state house a mess and a tea party member stayed to clean it up.<

While merely trying to balance his budget and level the playing field between taxpayers and government employee unions, Governor Scott Walker has found himself maligned and attacked.

Whereas the principles and policies that he is fighting for are one in the same with the tea party movement, we decided to work with leaders from around the country to send him a letter of support and encouragement.

Below is the result – crafted and signed by leaders from over 50 tea party, 912 and grassroots groups from California to New Hampshire.

This article was published in 2008 — but is making the rounds on the Internet today.  Was it leaked?

Is Obama preparing for martial law?  For insurrection?  For a “crisis”?

Would a Canadian soldier hesitate to fire on an American citizen if ordered to do so?

Who signed this?  Was it with Congress’ authorization?

The Obama administration spent $700 million USD to acquire the GPS coordinates of the front door of every home in the United States last year as part of the “Census” done every 10 years. This information is not mandated by law. It was acquired in the middle of The Greatest Recession. Can you imagine how it feels to have your out-of-control government be able to launch with your coordinates at the end of a Tomahawk? Or maybe a nice Canadian soldier with a big gun?

Do you find it suspicious that this was created specifically for civil emergencies?

Canada, U.S. agree to use each other’s troops in civil emergencies

Canada and the U.S. have signed an agreement that paves the way for the militaries from either nation to send troops across each other’s borders during an emergency, but some are questioning why the Harper government has kept silent on the deal.Canada and the U.S. have signed an agreement that paves the way for the militaries from either nation to send troops across each other’s borders during an emergency, but some are questioning why the Harper government has kept silent on the deal.

Neither the Canadian government nor the Canadian Forces announced the new agreement, which was signed Feb. 14 in Texas.

The U.S. military’s Northern Command, however, publicized the agreement with a statement outlining how its top officer, Gen. Gene Renuart, and Canadian Lt.-Gen. Marc Dumais, head of Canada Command, signed the plan, which allows the military from one nation to support the armed forces of the other nation during a civil emergency.

The new agreement has been greeted with suspicion by the left wing in Canada and the right wing in the U.S.

The left-leaning Council of Canadians, which is campaigning against what it calls the increasing integration of the U.S. and Canadian militaries, is raising concerns about the deal.

“It’s kind of a trend when it comes to issues of Canada-U.S. relations and contentious issues like military integration. We see that this government is reluctant to disclose information to Canadians that is readily available on American and Mexican websites,” said Stuart Trew, a researcher with the Council of Canadians.

Trew said there is potential for the agreement to militarize civilian responses to emergency incidents. He noted that work is also underway for the two nations to put in place a joint plan to protect common infrastructure such as roadways and oil pipelines.

“Are we going to see (U.S.) troops on our soil for minor potential threats to a pipeline or a road?” he asked.

Trew also noted the U.S. military does not allow its soldiers to operate under foreign command so there are questions about who controls American forces if they are requested for service in Canada. “We don’t know the answers because the government doesn’t want to even announce the plan,” he said.

But Canada Command spokesman Commander David Scanlon said it will be up to civilian authorities in both countries on whether military assistance is requested or even used.

He said the agreement is “benign” and simply sets the stage for military-to-military co-operation if the governments approve.

“But there’s no agreement to allow troops to come in,” he said. “It facilitates planning and co-ordination between the two militaries. The ‘allow’ piece is entirely up to the two governments.”

If U.S. forces were to come into Canada they would be under tactical control of the Canadian Forces but still under the command of the U.S. military, Scanlon added.

News of the deal, and the allegation it was kept secret in Canada, is already making the rounds on left-wing blogs and Internet sites as an example of the dangers of the growing integration between the two militaries.

On right-wing blogs in the U.S. it is being used as evidence of a plan for a “North American union” where foreign troops, not bound by U.S. laws, could be used by the American federal government to override local authorities.

“Co-operative militaries on Home Soil!” notes one website. “The next time your town has a ‘national emergency,’ don’t be surprised if Canadian soldiers respond. And remember — Canadian military aren’t bound by posse comitatus.”

Posse comitatus is a U.S. law that prohibits the use of federal troops from conducting law enforcement duties on domestic soil unless approved by Congress.

Scanlon said there was no intent to keep the agreement secret on the Canadian side of the border. He noted it will be reported on in the Canadian Forces newspaper next week and that publication will be put on the Internet.

Scanlon said the actual agreement hasn’t been released to the public as that requires approval from both nations. That decision has not yet been taken, he added.
