Before I head out tonight like Paul Revere to warn Congress that we’re coming by land, by sea, by air, by train, bus or broomstick if we have to, to wage battle against the tyranny of those who have forgotten they answer to We the People, I leave you with this message from Rep. Mike Pence.
And to those of you who have written to wish me a safe trip and offer rueful regrets that you can’t be there too, let me say that you WILL be there in spirit and with determination. I’m carrying your banner too because you are my fellow Americans and we will win this battle together.
UPDATE: Congresswoman Michele Bachmann just called me and we made arrangements for me to meet with her in her office while I’m in DC. (I want to thank my Representative Bill Posey and his staff for putting us in touch with each other.)
I’m going. Yep, we’re driving north 868 miles to DC tonight for tomorrow’s big rally on the Capitol Steps, followed by calls to our House representatives to let them know we will throttle them (if not by the neck, by the ballot) if they vote for this abominable health care reform bill.
It’ll be a 13+ hour trip by car (not including pit stops), but hey, as I’ve already told some friends, the journey was long getting to Omaha Beach too.
Look out! We’re coming to DC, and I’ve already been in touch with my rep Bill Posey, who sent out an email to us on the Space Coast earlier this morning, inviting us to his office at 2 p.m. tomorrow afternoon. We’ll be there.
I wonder how many other Representatives were as open and courteous to their constituents (aka “bosses”)? Patriots are bringing videocams and recorders… let’s see who shows up on You Tube with their fanny sticking out from under their desk. We’ll recognize them anyway… asses are asses, no matter which direction they’re facing.
Other Florida patriots who are heading to DC — Kristinn Taylor of Free Republic.com; John Vail of the Space Coast; Mabel from St. Cloud; and busloads, traincarsfull, and airplanes loaded with Floridians from Miami, Tampa, Orlando, Palm Beach, Daytona Beach, Jacksonville, and all points between. Proud to stand with ‘em.
Lorie Byrd of Wizbang and Media Mythbusters will be there. She and I have already exchanged cellfone numbers intending to hook up while we’re there at our nation’s Capitol. Breaking away from their national tour with the Tea Party Express II to fly into Washington for this important business is Lloyd Marcus, Blue Star mom Deborah Johns, and Amy Kremer. Anita Moncrief, ACORN whistle blower is expected to arrive as well.
We’re making history. We’re coming with a message. They may think they’ve got us surrounded, but I am reminded of what Chesty Puller said at the Battle of the Bulge (oops!) in Korea:
“They’ve got us surrounded, the poor bastards!”
Watch for news about Hell Raining down on the House at show producer Dave’s blogsite, where he’ll be posting updates as I call them in. For obvious reasons, I will not be hosting my show tonight or Thursday night. But check in on Friday when I’ll be back on the radio stream to tell you all about it.
Til then… we’re Eastbound and down.. loaded up and truckin, we’re gonna do what they say can’t be done. We got a long way to go, and a short time to get there… I’m eastbound, just watch your bandit run!
Here on Florida’s Space Coast, one of our concerned citizens sent this email around to folks on the Space Coast Patriots mail list.
So are you going to D.C. this week to join Michelle Bachmann on the Capitol steps? We have a bus from Orlando, buses from Tampa, a bus from Melbourne, flights filling up from Miami, people taking Amtrak… you name it, Florida will be there!!! Not as many as 912, but still…there.
I chaired a meeting of the Space Coast Patriots last night, our first at the Merritt Island library auditorium (I reserved it for once every month through 2010) and we had 36 people show up! One was a candidate, Tom Garcia, who is running for our congressional district 24 to unseat “Komrad” Kosmas, our current District 24 representative (she voted for the stimulus, for Cap and Trade, and supports Pelosi’s $1,200,000.000,000.00 Health Reform Bill). Tom gave an interesting 15 minute talk.
And we also had a guest speaker, Rey Sanchez from Melbourne, who was an 18 year old teenager in Cuba in 1958 when Castro took over from Batista. He worked to help overthrow Batista and get Castro into power believing the propaganda that Castro was going to bring democracy.
He told us that in Castro’s first two years he saw that dream disappear. He said that everything that Obama has done in 10 months is exactly what he saw Castro do in his first two years. His grandfather was a large landowner and supported Castro’s rebels on his land. In less than two years, Castro had seized all of his grandfather’s land. No more private property. He said he isn’t being fooled this time and he isn’t going to go down without a fight (and he means “fight” literally – that’s what he sees coming).
He clearly believes that while we all sit around like sheep baaing “that can’t happen here”, it is happening right before our eyes just like he saw it happen in Cuba. He covered how Castro
used the education system to brainwash the youth (consider “Umm, ummm, ummm; Barrack Hussein Obama!” and “The Story of Stuff”, just a couple of today’s chilling examples);
how Castro seized private property (today we encounter it as “Agenda 21/Sustainable Development”, part of the environmental movement, with wildlands projects, endangered species restrictions, etc. and eminent domain actions);
how Castro nationalized business (Government Motors (GM) anyone? Or how about a couple of banks, maybe throw in 1/6 of the national economy with take over of the health care industry);
how Castro nationalized agriculture (again we see it in Agenda 21/Sustainable Development plans for local planning boards with outright federal confiscation of private agricultural lands using “conservation easements” – going on in Colorado right now);
how Castro took over control of the media (consider the White House war on FOX, manipulation of Nat’l Endowment of the Arts as an arm of propaganda, 33% increase in NPR funding, the FCC Czar’s proposed “Net Neutrality” and proposed bailouts of newspapers that support the “progressive” agenda, etc.);
and on and on – all too eerily familiar.
He gave a very moving (and frightening) talk.
It was interesting to me how similar the content of his talk was to the video of the woman who grew up in Austria in the 1930’s and 1940’s. They both are very passionate about how we in this country are at a tipping point today. Tomorrow may be too late.
If you want information about joining forces to go to DC, or about what you can do locally to help stop the madness, please give me a call.
Better a donkey in office that acts like a donkey than a donkey in elephant’s clothing making a complete ass of the GOP.
Moreover, NY-23 is a victory for conservatives who refuse to be marginalized in the public square by either the unhinged left or the establishment right. A humble accountant from upstate New York exposed the hypocrisy of GOP leaders trying to solicit funds from conservatives by lambasting Pelosi and the Dems’ support for high taxes, Big Labor, and bigger government — while using conservatives’ money to subsidize a high-taxing, Big Labor-pandering, bigger government radical. The repercussions will be felt well beyond NY-23’s borders. Conservatives’ disgust with the status quo has been heard and felt. They have been silent too long. They will be silent no more.
The GOP leadership knows it cannot afford to rest on its laurels, continue business as usual, and bask in yesterday’s electoral victories without confronting its abysmal abdication of principled conservative leadership in NY-23.
As Hoffman said in his concession speech, “This is only one fight in the battle.”
